James Kennedy Conway

April 12, 1950 ~ September 25, 2017 (age 67)

James Conway passed away peacefully at home on September 25, 2017. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Jerry and Wilma Conway, and his brothers Mike and Bill. He is survived by his wife Patricia, his son Robert, his sister Aileen, and his brother John.

James, or Jim to those who knew and loved him, was born in Portland, Oregon on April 12, 1950. After high school, he enlisted in the Army, and served his country honorably in the Vietnam War. When he returned, he soon met the love of his life, Patti Vinyard – who he would be married to for 44 years – and together they would have their only child, Robert, in 1983.

When Jim wasn’t working at Andersen Construction, he liked to spend time outdoors. Whether it was camping and deer hunting up in Sisters, Oregon with his family, elk hunting with his coworkers, or fly fishing with friends, he felt the most himself outside. He also possessed a generous heart. Jim would often show his kindness by being a good provider to his wife and son, and spending time volunteering at the Albertina Kerr Center.

Those wishing to celebrate the memory of Jim can join his friends and family at a graveside service held at Willamette National Cemetery at 10:30 AM on October 2, 2017:

11800 SE Mt Scott Blvd.  Portland, OR 97086

There will also be a luncheon held after the service at Lents Gilbert Church of God:

12230 SE Harold St. Portland, OR 97236

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Albertina Kerr Center:

Albertina Kerr

424 NE 22nd Ave.  Portland, OR 97232
