James William Sanders, Sr.September 12, 1930 ~ August 26, 2017 (age 86)
James William Sanders was born September 12, 1930, the last of thirteen children in the remote town of Hawk Springs, Wyoming. He spent his childhood in Colorado Springs with the Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak as his backyard.
As a young man he moved to the Northwest and worked with his brother moving houses in the Kennewick, Washington area. Finally settling in Portland, Oregon where he became an entrepreneur - painting whitewalls tires, running a gas station, selling cars and building his auto electric business.
Jim, as he was better known in the community, served as a Gideon with the Clackamas North Chapter sharing God’s Word at schools and fairs and was an active church member with the Nazarene Church. He had many repeat customers due to his fairness and generosity.
He was known to his family as Papa or Pops, raising eight children with great love and devotion, admonishing the twenty grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren to follow in the steps of the Lord.
Jim went to be with the with the Lord on Saturday, August 26, 2017, where he was meet with rejoicing by his twelve siblings and parents.
He is survived by his wife, Janice, of over forty-five years and eight children. His love for Jesus and his family will shine for generations because of his impact on our lives and the lives of those he touched.
