John "Kris" Kristian Espenas

November 29, 1942 ~ August 22, 2017 (age 74)

John Kristian "Kris" Espenas, age 74, died on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at his home in Damascus, Oregon.   Kris had been struggling with kidney failure and dialysis which his heart could no longer tolerate.  He was born in Madison, Wisconsin to Leif and Elna (Folsom) Espenas and was the older of two children.  After graduation from Oregon State with a BS in Mathematics he immediately went to work for Boeing in Seattle in the payroll IT department.  He worked with computers his entire life.   Kris was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved camping, clamming, fishing, hunting, and rafting.  Kris even went to Burning Man with his daughter in 2013.  Kris loved to tell a story and did not pass up a chance to bring a smile to your face even when most unexpected.  Kris will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Kris was preceded in death by his parents.  Kris is survived by his wife of 50 years, Suzanne (Byrd) Espenas, his son Dedrick Espenas, his daughter Teresa Jugovich, 5 grandchildren: Gennifer Rigby , Kyle Espenas, Ethan Rigby, Leif Jugovich and Lucy Jugovich; and his sister Karen Smith.

There will not be a memorial service but rather a celebration of life gathering in the following months.
